New Year. New Goals. New Projects.
Bring. It. On.
First up….. #OperationBachelorPad.
I’m sorry to admit, but I always hated <working with> straight men. They don’t appreciate vintage brass. They don’t understand the importance of throw pillows or serving trays. And they definitely aren’t on board with turquoise foo dog statues. Lame.
But I’m in need of paying clients evolving as a designer, and am starting to appreciate simple, monochromatic design and am now open to designing for straight men. Maybe it was all the fun my guy and I had filming the Bachelor Pad Transformation video when I did some projects around his loft? Who knows?
Enter, my first legit bachelor client. Hence #OperationBachelorPad
The first thing he told me was “I don’t like a lot of shit and I don’t like color.” Okey dokey, I’m your gal! <WTF am I gonna do?>
Lucky for me him, the space is awesoooooome! It’s in a luxury, modern, high-rise tower in the Central West End part of St. Louis. The condo is huge, clean, and has great views. Just completely vacant, except for some boring, builder grade finishes.A perfect blank canvas to create a super swank, urban chic dude pad. I’m thinking mid-century, Mad Men scale and shape furniture and lots of natural materials. I’m gathering inspiration from these images…
I’ve been puting together a space filled with black leather, natural textiles, chrome, and neutral colors. So far, so good!
This is where we are with the living room…
Arched lucite lamp/Form teak arm chair/Woven V Pillow/Jute Rug/Hex side table/Maxwell leather sofa/Oveido Leather chase/Martini side table/Cornice Bookcase/Industrial tool media console
Almost everything has been ordered and I’m meeting with the painter and electrician today. Lets get this Bachelor Party started!
